Children allegedly abandon their 78-year-old mum at the Lagos airport

An old woman has reportedly been left stranded by her children at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

The woman arrived at the airport after boarding a flight on Lufthansa Airline. She had no phone number or contact address of her relatives.

A sympathiser, Bimpe Kemi, noticed the old woman and stayed with her at the airport till the next morning.

A Facebook user Iwuchukwu Benneth also helped to publicise the woman’s plight on social media. Have a look at his post below:

A 78-year-old woman identified as Benice Ikerionwu arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport but had nobody to come and pick her. Upon inquiry from her, she revealed that her son, Chimezie Ikerinowu, who lives in Abuja was supposed to come and pick her.

Another traveller identified at Bimpe Kemi noticed the old woman in tears and notified airport officials to the woman’s plight. She also stayed with the woman for the night and gave her some money when she was leaving later the next day.

Ikerionwu’s daughter’s details were finally gotten by the airline, seeing as she had booked her mother’s ticket. She also claimed that their mother had been picked from the airport and that she slept in the house of one of her sons who lives in Ajegunle, Lagos.
