Why former Man United boss Alex Ferguson quits Alcohol

It is a fact of his life as an open book that Sir Alex Ferguson the retired Machester United legendary manager is an alcoholic.

However, the Former Manchester United manager has reportedly stopped alcohol intake in the bid to quicken his way back to full recovery.

The former Red Devils tactician had an emergency surgery in May after suffering brain hemorrhage.

He has since then continued his recovery process after leaving the hospital in his Cheshire home.

As part of his receover process, the 76-year-old was said to have visited the South of France for a holiday recently and has given up drinking alcohol, according to The Sun.

"He drank water every time he visited us, not a drop of wine touched his lips,' a staff member at Villefranche-sur-Mer's La Mare Germaine restaurant said.

"Sir Alex loves his wines but he's stopped drinking for the time being — that's not so good for us, but his health has to come first.

"We'll all raise a glass to him when he feels he's ready to go back on the red."

Ferguson during his 26-year reign at Manchester United won 13 Premier League titles with five FA Cups.

He wealth of experience at the club also saw him win two Champions League and four EFL titles among others.

And in total he won 13 Premier League titles during his 27-year reign at the club.
